The Worship Perspective – Daily Devotional

I can tell who is worshipping, who isn’t. Who is hurting and seeking the word of God for guidance, and who is there to rejoice.

You see, I am on the worship team at my Church. I have a perspective of the congregation that not many have. I’m looking out at the Church and I can see the need of the people attending. The hurt, the apathy, the joy, I can see who needs to be helped, and who is annoyed.

We all have our reasons for going to church. I feel that mine was to gain new perspective on people and more importantly; myself. Some go out of habit, some go for guidance and some are truly lost and searching for answers. Like I was.

You see, I was running from God for so long, that I was left at rock bottom. That’s the amazing thing about our God! He is the rock upon which you can build yourself back up again.

So, I ran back to God. Like the Prodigal son, he welcomed me home with open arms and a loving embrace. Through my return, God has quickly been using me for his works. Helping fellow Veterans, joining the worship team. He has even utilized my old Paramedic skills having to help some of the older church members who have had Medical Emergencies. God put’s us where he needs us and on Sunday mornings, I can see what everyone needs.

Psalm 5:8

“Lead me in the right path, O Lord, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.”

We’re all searching for answers. We all are trying to figure out what it is God wants from us. I see the doubt, and fear in their eyes. The hope and faith, the uncertainty and pain.

Psalm 32:8

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.

I may be on the stage, helping lead my Brothers and Sisters in worship, but please; don’t think I don’t notice that you are hurting just like me. The path of a Christian is a difficult and long journey. You are not alone, and God is guiding you. It may not seem like it, but he is.

He guided me back to Church, and now 3 members of my congregation are still alive because God used me and my skills as a Paramedic to save his children. Had I not been there, only God knows if they would have been alright. He puts us where he needs us. It is imperative to remain humble though.

Psalm 25:9

He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way.

What’s that old saying, “…pride go’eth before the fall…”

We all need guidance, and help, and love. Even the strongest of us can be weak and afraid. We just need to place our trust in the Lord. Read our scripture. Worship and fellowship together.

Psalm 119:133

Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.

God has given us an instruction manual. We need to be reading it, and living by his word.

From the perspective I have, I can see everyone. Which makes me examine myself. It’s a unique vantage point God has given me, one which makes me critique my own actions by observing how the rest of the Church is walking with God.

The Lord works in mysterious ways, and puts us where he needs us. He placed me on the stage, so I can become a stronger Christian. Where has he placed you?
